Flight to Lisbon

Today we start our journey to the paradise Azores. After the passport and baggage check, we have a flight to Lisbon.

2.day

Lisbon, Sao Miguel

Today we will reach Lisbon, and ahead of us is only the flight to Ponta Delgada on São Miguel Island, transfer to the hotel, accommodation, and our first night on Portuguese soil.

Podróż do rajskich Azorów

3.day

The volcano Sete Cidades, the Lagoa Das Sete Cidades lake, and the Ribeira Dos Caldeiroes Natural Park.

After breakfast, we will head to the Sete Cidades volcano, and the highlight will be entering its caldera! Here, you can admire one of the most beautiful and iconic views on the island, and once we’ve soaked in the sights, we’ll listen to the legend associated with the two-colored lake – Lagoa das Sete Cidades.

Attention! Adventure ahead! We suggest a three-hour canyoning experience with a certified guide in the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park – a route suitable for beginners. Just a quick briefing, gear collection (wetsuit, boots, harness, helmet, ropes), and off we go! This area is full of waterfalls, with the largest one standing over 40 meters tall.

4.day

The Arruda Pineapple Plantation and the Lagoa do Fogo Lake.

After breakfast, we will head to the Arruda Pineapple Plantation, where we’ll witness firsthand how Azorean pineapples are cultivated – reputedly the sweetest in the world!

The rest of the day will be spent on a moderately challenging trekking trail, covering an 11 km route overlooking one of the most beautiful volcanic lakes on São Miguel – Lagoa do Fogo. The lake sits at an altitude of 575 meters above sea level, with a maximum depth of around 30 meters, and the caldera slopes reach up to 300 meters. We’ll conclude the day by returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

5.day

Gorreana Tea Factory Miradouro De Santa Iria Mulher De Capote

After breakfast, we will head to the port, from where we will embark on a trip to visit the whale and dolphin brothers in their natural habitat. With a bit of luck, we may have the chance to see species such as sperm whales, common dolphins, or even the blue whale if luck is on our side!

In the afternoon, we will visit the only tea plantation in Europe and the Gorreana Tea Factory, which has been operating since 1883. Then, we will go to Miradouro de Santa Iria, a viewpoint located on the northern coast, offering excellent views of the northern part of the island.

To conclude the day, we will visit the local liqueur factory Mulher de Capote, where we will taste liqueurs made from mandarin or passion fruit. We will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

6.day

Furnas, Hot Springs of Poca Da Dona Beija

After breakfast, we will visit Furnas, a place where you can truly feel the volcanic nature of the Azores. We will see both empty and boiling calderas filled with water and sulfur-scented fumaroles. Then, we will embark on a cycling expedition through this volcanic heart of the island, followed by an afternoon kayaking excursion on Lake Furnas.

Today, we will also try the traditional Portuguese meat dish – cozido à portuguesa, prepared here in the hot volcanic soil, known as “cozido das Furnas”.

In the evening, we will relax by taking baths in the hot springs of Poça da Dona Beija. Then, we will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

7.day

Hieronymites Monastery, Belem Tower, Alfama, Mouraria

Today we have a flight to Lisbon. We will visit the Belém district. We will visit the Manueline Jerónimos Monastery, where the tombs of Vasco da Gama and the national poet, Luís de Camões, are located. While strolling along the Tagus River, we will see the beautiful Monument to the Discoveries and the famous Belém Tower. We have planned a short break in a local pastry shop, where we will taste delicious “Belém pastries”.

Then we will drive towards the old districts of Lisbon, where we will discover the unique world of Alfama and Mouraria. Walking through the narrow streets, you may feel like time has stopped here. According to many, this is where the real heart of the city beats. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere, music, and smells of Lisbon to experience the Portuguese concept of “calma”, or calmness.

The day will end with a transfer to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

8.day

Avenida da Liberdade

This is our last day in Lisbon. After breakfast, while strolling through the hills, wandering through narrow streets, and passing squares and corners, we will try to capture the spirit of the city created by its history and inhabitants – citizens of the whole world!

We will visit the lower and upper town, where we will see, among other things: Avenida da Liberdade, Praça dos Restauradores, the historic Elevador da Bica and Elevador da Glória, viewpoints: Miradouro das Portas do Sol and Miradouro da Senhora do Monte.

We will also visit Praça do Comércio and Praça do Rossio. There will, of course, be free time as well. Our adventure will end with a transfer to Lisbon Airport. We hope that the journey to the paradise Azores has left you with beautiful memories.
