Travel itinerary
Flight to San José
Upon arrival in San José, we begin our city tour. We visit landmarks such as the National Theater, the National Museum, the Children’s Museum, and the Gold Museum.
At the end of the day, we head to the Cartago Basilica, also known as the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles. The statue of the Black Madonna housed here is believed to be a source of numerous healings. Then, we transfer to the hotel for overnight accommodation.
San José, Coffee Plantation, Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfall
After breakfast, we visit an authentic Costa Rican coffee plantation. We learn about the production, harvesting, processing, and roasting of coffee beans. Then, we embark on an excursion to the Poas Volcano. As we approach the crater, we feel the change in temperature and vegetation.
On our way to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, we have lunch. Then, we hike to the waterfall located in the heart of the rainforest. We have the opportunity to see a hummingbird gallery, a serpentarium, a birdhouse, a butterfly garden, and a frog exhibit. We return to San José for overnight accommodation.
San José, Arenal Volcano
After breakfast, we head near the town of La Fortuna, where the Arenal Volcano is located. The Arenal Mistico Park, known for its hanging bridges, is situated there. During a 2.5-hour walk, we have the opportunity to admire the diversity of fauna and flora typical of the tropical rainforest.
We also stroll through the forest on fifteen sections of bridges, six of which are hanging bridges with views of the treetops and the Arenal Volcano.
Water Safari
After breakfast, we will take a boat trip around the Caño Negro Reserve and the Río Frío River! We will start the cruise in Los Chiles – a small town located 4 kilometers from the border with Nicaragua. After lunch, we will relax in the thermal pools naturally heated by the Arenal volcano. Return to the hotel.
Tarcoles River, Punta Leona
After breakfast, we embark on a boat trip along the Tarloces River. We journey between the Arenal Volcano and Punta Leona. Along the way, we have the opportunity to see numerous wild animals, including the famous, huge 6-meter-long American crocodiles or the rare sight of Scarlet Macaws, which inhabit the Carara Biological Reserve.
Here, you can see more crocodiles than anywhere else in the world! We spend the night at the Punta Leona Hotel.
Punta Leona, Manuel Antonio National Park
After breakfast, we head to Manuel Antonio National Park – a place inhabited by many exotic animals, including monkeys, sloths, birds, reptiles, and butterflies. After about a two-kilometer hike, we reach the beach, recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the most beautiful in the world.
Here, we enjoy a short break. Then, we return to the hotel in Punta Leona.
