Iceland: New Year’s Eve

Flight to Keflavik

Passport and baggage check-in and flight to Keflavik.

Keflavik, Reykjavik

Morning arrival at Keflavik International Airport, located about 50 km from Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik. Meet with the guide at the airport and set off toward the historic area of Borgarfjörður.

The itinerary includes stops at the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, as well as the Deildartunguhver hot springs. For those interested, there’s an optional excursion to the Langjökull glacier, where visitors can admire an ice cave open to tourists.

On the return journey to Reykjavik, keep an eye out for the Northern Lights. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.

Þingvellir, Gullfoss

After breakfast, we set off to explore the “Golden Circle,” the southwestern part of the island. The itinerary includes a visit to Þingvellir National Park. Along the way, we’ll see a geothermal power plant.

Next, we’ll visit a geothermal field with an erupting geyser named Strokkur.

Finally, we’ll tour one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls – Gullfoss. Return to Reykjavik for an overnight stay.

Kirkjufellsfoss

After breakfast, we’ll tour the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The itinerary includes admiring the rugged landscapes, lava fields, and snow-capped mountain peaks. Several stops at scenic viewpoints offer the opportunity to take fantastic photos.

On the return journey to Reykjavik, we’ll visit Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall, and the distinctively shaped mountain known as the “Fist of the First Men” from the series Game of Thrones. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.

New Year's Eve in Reykjavik

After breakfast, we’ll continue exploring Reykjavik, beginning with a walk through the atmospheric city center. Then, we’ll experience something unforgettable – FlyOver Iceland! We’ll sit comfortably in plush seats and embark on a virtual flight that lets us admire the wild, unforgettable landscapes of this one-of-a-kind country.

In the evening, we’ll join the street party to welcome the New Year. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

After breakfast, we’ll drive along a scenic coastal route through Skogafoss to the town of Vik. Along the way, we’ll stop at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, renowned for its black sand and volcanic cliffs.

Overnight stay in Vik.

Vatnajökull National Park, Diamond Lagoon

After breakfast, we’ll head toward the beautiful Vatnajökull National Park. Next, we’ll visit the truly spectacular Jökulsárlón (glacial lagoon), where ice chunks break off from the glacier’s edge and drift toward the shore, resting on the beach known as the “Diamond Beach,” creating a magical scene.

Return to Vik for an overnight stay.

Sólheimajökull Glacier

After breakfast, we’ll head back to Reykjavik. Along the way, we’ll make a quick stop at the Sólheimajökull glacier and the majestic Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

Blue Lagoon

This is the last day of our Iceland adventure. After breakfast, we’ll check out and continue exploring the Reykjanes Peninsula. We’ll head to the geothermal spa, the Blue Lagoon. The blue water, with a temperature up to 42°C, surrounded by black volcanic lava, creates an unforgettable experience. It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to Iceland.

If the Blue Lagoon is closed, we’ll visit the Sky Lagoon instead. In the afternoon, we’ll depart back to the USA.
