2.day

Santiago de Chile

Upon arrival in Santiago de Chile and checking into the hotel, we will embark on a city tour. We will visit landmarks such as Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Main Post Office building, and La Moneda Presidential Palace. Additionally, we will explore the quaint Paris-Londres neighborhood, including the historic San Francisco Church.

Finally, we will head to the famous San Cristobal Hill, where we’ll take a funicular ride to reach the viewpoint. From there, we’ll admire the panoramic view of the city and the Andes mountain range surrounding the metropolis.

Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

3.day

Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine National Park.

Today, we have a flight to Puerto Natales, a town situated along the famous Last Hope Sound. From there, we will travel to the most beautiful mountain national park in South America – Torres del Paine, and then to the award-winning EcoCamp – the world’s first Geodesic Dome Hotel.

In the afternoon, we will start our yoga sessions to relax the body and mind after the journey.

4.day

Valle De France

After breakfast, we will head to the small port of Pudeto, located on the shore of Lake Pehoe. We will board a catamaran that will take us to the northwest section of the lake. Here, we will begin our hike to Valle Frances (French Valley) along a steep trail leading to the heart of the Paine massif. The distance we cover will depend on the pace of our group’s trekking. A faster pace will lead us to the hanging bridge over the French River at the base of the southeast wall of the massif, where we will admire fantastic views of the valley.

We will then continue our ascent towards the upper part of the massif, where we will be able to admire the extensive array of geological formations in the valley: Hoja (Blade), Máscara (Mask), Espada (Sword), Catedral (Cathedral), Aleta de Tiburón (Shark’s Fin), and the magnificent Fortaleza (Fortress). We will stop for a picnic and relaxation.

Our adventure will conclude at Refugio Paine Grande, located on the tranquil shore of Lake Pehoe. From there, we will board a catamaran that will take us back to Pudeto, where we will be picked up and transported back to EcoCamp.

Upon our return, we will relax our body and mind during an hour-long yoga session.

dystans: 21 km / 13 m, szacowany czas: 7 h, stopień trudności: zaawansowany

5.day

Base Las Torres

After a hearty breakfast, we will depart from EcoCamp towards Hostería Las Torres. Dry mountainous areas, beech forests, and small rivers define the picturesque trail leading to the valley. Our greatest challenge will come as we ascend the steep moraine, boulder fields leading us towards one of the world’s most famous views – the view of the Towers. The famous Torres del Paine (2850 meters above sea level) consists of three gigantic granite monoliths, remnants of a great cauldron carved by the forces of glacial ice.

After hiking uphill towards the Towers, they finally come into view, majestically rising before us, with the glacial lake visible below. Is there a better place in the world for lunch? After enjoying the views and a picnic, we will return along the same trail through the Ascencio Valley and back to EcoCamp.

Evening yoga session.

Distance: 22 km / 14 mi, estimated time: 9 h, difficulty level: challenging

6.day

GREY GLACIER

Today, we will start the day with morning yoga sessions. Then, we will drive through the park, admiring the view of Paine Grande and its snow-capped peaks, as well as Los Cuernos with its black, granite peaks resembling horns. We will stop at Pudeto Dock to drop off travelers taking the Gray Trek and visit several viewpoints along the way to observe and photograph herds of guanacos, Andean condors, and interesting flora. Walking along the shore of the magnificent Lake Pehoe, we will see the Salto Grande waterfall, where water from Lake Nordenskjold cascades into Pehoe.

From there, we will head to Gray Lake and hike along the beach. Here, we will enjoy a tasty boxed lunch by the lake, and then embark on a boat cruise through the icy waters to the towering blue walls of Glacier Grey.

After this incredible close-up view of the glacier, we will return to EcoCamp.

Distance: 1.6 km / 1 mi, estimated time: 2 h, difficulty level: very easy

7.day

WILD HORSE TRACKING

After buffet breakfast at EcoCamp, we will head towards the Laguna Azul sector. From there, we will start our journey by 4×4 vehicle through the folds of the Cordillera Masle, where we will be able to admire the Cordillera Baguales pass, Salto Las Chinas, and Barranca de Los Toros.

After about 40 minutes, we will reach a typical “puesto” where Patagonian “gauchos” take shelter while tending to their cattle. Here, we will hear a brief but interesting introduction to the history of this area and the evolution and characteristics of wild horses. Using satellite tracking equipment, combined with the experience and knowledge of our guide, we will begin our hike in search of 100 untamed horses that remain isolated in this sector, surrounded by mountains, lakes, and plains, in the most pristine and untouched area of Torres del Paine. Depending on the location of the horses, we will choose a spot to have lunch and share our stories and experiences.

The experience of tracking, observing, and analyzing horses in such a natural setting is incomparable. Additionally, we will witness fantastic views of Lago Stokes, the Dickson Mountain Range, and the impressive Towers.

After 7-8 hours, we will return to EcoCamp, ready for an aperitif before enjoying a warm meal.

8.day

ECO CAMP – PUERTO NATALES – SANTIAGO DE CHILE-CHICAGO

We bid farewell to the beautiful wild Patagonia, fully rejuvenated as we embark on our journey back.

We will transfer to the airport in Puerto Natales for our flight to Santiago de Chile.

Upon arrival, we will catch a connecting flight for the evening international flight to Chicago.

We invite you to join us on future trips with Rek Travel Adventure to Patagonia, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and many other places.
