Nairobi, Samburu

After breakfast, we’ll set out for Samburu National Park, approximately 320 km from Nairobi. The scenic five-hour journey through Kenya’s central highlands will treat us to views of coffee, tea, and pineapple plantations.

We’ll be captivated by the sight of the snow-capped Mt. Kenya contrasting with the red slopes below. Lunch will be served during the journey.

Accommodation awaits in elegantly decorated Samburu-style cottages along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, with a nearby pool offering breathtaking views. Dinner will be provided at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Samburu, Lake Nakuru

Today begins with an early wake-up call, followed by a morning safari, as we continue our journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. This park is renowned for its diverse array of water birds, with the highlight being the spectacular presence of pink flamingos, creating a visual feast.

En route, we’ll pause to witness the impressive 74-meter Thompson Falls in Nyahururu. Established in 1968 at the base of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru National Park stands out as one of Kenya’s most beautiful parks, hosting a variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, hyenas, and antelopes.

In the evening, we’ll transfer to Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge for our overnight stay. Nestled on the slope of a hill overlooking Lake Nakuru, right in the heart of the national park, the lodge features 67 luxurious cottages and amenities such as a pool, spa, table tennis, darts, and billiards.

For those interested, there’s an opportunity to partake in traditional dance shows and animations held every evening.

Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara

On this day, we embark on an approximately 6-hour drive to the Masai Mara Reserve, an extension of the Serengeti National Park reaching into Tanzania. Here, a rich tapestry of wildlife unfolds, featuring elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and the elusive black rhinoceros. The Masai Mara National Reserve proudly hosts Kenya’s largest lion population and is home to the unique horse-like antelope not found elsewhere in the country.

As the day concludes, we will transfer to our accommodation. Overnight, we will reside in double tents situated along the Talek River. These tents are thoughtfully equipped with toilets, showers, and heating for your comfort.

Masai Mara

Another thrilling day unfolds in one of the planet’s most dynamic wildlife ecosystems – Masai Mara. Renowned as one of Africa’s premier wildlife reserves, Masai Mara, in tandem with the adjacent Serengeti in Tanzania, is hailed as one of the world’s most beautiful parks.

The landscape of Masai Mara features expansive savannahs dotted with sparse trees, hosting diverse herds of antelopes, gazelles, zebras, elephants, giraffes, and a plethora of predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. It stands as a sanctuary to the largest and most varied concentration of wildlife in comparison to any other nature reserve in the region.

As the day draws to a close, we’ll journey to the Mara River, bordering Tanzania. In August and September, during the great migrations, this river witnesses the awe-inspiring spectacle of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras crossing, heading east across the plains. With some luck, we may observe crocodile and hippopotamus herds grazing alongside wildebeests, antelopes, and zebras. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas await their opportune moment.

In the evening, we will transfer to Basecamp Masai Mara for our overnight stay.
