1.day

FLIGHT TO ZURICH FROM ANY AIRPORT IN THE WORLD

We begin our journey to Switzerland with passport and baggage check-in, and a flight to Zurich – a city surrounded by Alpine peaks and offering magnificent views.

2.day

THE FINANCIAL CITY: ZURICH

After arriving in Zurich, we will check into our hotel. After a short rest, we will set out to explore the city. Zurich, the capital and largest city of Switzerland, has only 400,000 inhabitants. Although it is primarily associated with finance due to the presence of renowned banks, it also offers other attractions. We will discover them during our stay. Zurich is located on the shores of Lake Zurich. During a stroll through the old town, we will see the Town Hall, the wide Rathausbrücke bridge, which used to be a market square, and the 15th-century Cathedral. For those interested, there will be the opportunity to climb the cathedral tower, which will require some effort, but the view from the top will compensate for any hardships.

Moving to the more modern part of the city, we will take a walk down the ‘most expensive’ street, Bahnhofstrasse, where numerous banks, financial institutions, and luxury boutiques are located. Overnight stay in Zurich

3.day

LAKE OF FOUR CANTONS - BURGENSTOCK - INTERLAKEN

After breakfast, we will head to Burgenstock – a resort located on the spectacular mountain of the same name, from which there is a view over Lake of Four Cantons. The name of the lake comes from the four cantons it borders.

Our trek to the summit of Burgenstock, located at an altitude of 1128 meters above sea level, will have several stops. We will stop at a viewpoint, where we can admire the panorama of the lakes and the nearby Lucerne. The further route will lead us to the highest outdoor elevator in the whole of Europe, reaching a height of 152.8 meters – Hammetschwand. After a short rest, we will descend to Burgenstock and then head to Interlaken for overnight stay.

Today on the trail:

Time: approx. 4 hours Ascent: approx. 600 meters Distance: approx. 10 km

4.day

HABKERN - NIEDERHORN - BEATENBERG - INTERLAKEN

For the next three days, our base will be in Interlaken. Today, we will head to the village of Habkern, from where we will start our journey to the summit of Niederhorn, rising to an altitude of 1963 meters above sea level. During the hike along the trail above Lake Thun, we will admire the peaks of the Bernese Oberland’s Big Three: Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. Upon arrival and a short rest, we will have lunch at a restaurant with a unique view of the Alps. Then, we will descend to the village of Beatenberg. Return to the hotel in Interlaken for overnight stay.

Today on the trail:

Time: approx. 7 hours Ascent: approx. 1000 meters Distance: approx. 15 km

5.day

WILDERSWILL - SCHYINGE PLATTE - FAULHORN - LAKE BACHSEE - FIRST - VIEW OF EIGER

Today we have another day of trekking in the Bernese Oberland. Some claim that the Alps are most beautiful here, thanks to the crystal-clear lakes surrounded by green mountains and occasionally snow-capped peaks.

We will start from the Wilderswill station near Interlaken. We will board the cogwheel train operating here since 1893, and after a 52-minute ride, we will reach the viewpoint of Schyinge Platte. From there, we will embark on a trek through Faulhorn and Lake Bachsee, all the way to the summit of First, located at an altitude of 2167 meters above sea level. Here awaits us an unforgettable attraction: a walk on a glass bridge suspended over a cliff with a view of the north face of the Eiger.

At the end of the day, we will descend or take the train down to the village of Grindelwald. Return to the hotel in Interlaken for overnight stay.

Today on the trail:

Time: approx. 9 hours Ascent: approx. 750 meters Distance: approx. 21 km

6.day

VIA ALPINA - GRIESALP - HOHTURLI PASS - OESCHINEN LAKE - KANDERGRUND

Ahead of us is the last day of trekking in the vicinity of Interlaken. We will drive to Griesalp, where the segment of the Via Alpina trail connecting Monaco and Trieste begins. We will head towards the Hohturli Pass, from where we will reach Lake Oeschinen. Along the way, we will admire the views of the glaciers at the northern edge of Bluemlisalp.

During our trekking, we will be able to see why the Bernese Alps are often called the “Himalayas of Europe”. Lake Oeschinen is a pristine mountain lake fed by water from glacial streams flowing from the surrounding mountains. Here we will find rich flora, as well as herds of sheep and cows grazing in the pastures. We will also not miss the wild animals living on the mountain slopes. Full of impressions, we will descend to the village of Kandergrund, and then return to Interlaken for overnight stay.

Our route will include a trek to the Grimsel Pass above Lake Totensee. We will hike towards the picturesque summit of Sidelhorn, situated at an altitude of 2764 meters above sea level. The trail forms a loop, allowing us to return to the starting point after about a four-hour expedition. Along the way, we will admire the views of the surrounding mountains, numerous glaciers, and lakes.

Then, we will head to the Mattertal Valley, where the main tourist center of the region is located – Zermatt, which is also a famous Swiss resort. Overnight stay in Zermatt.

Its summit rises to an altitude of 4478 meters above sea level and is the sixth highest independent peak in the Alps. We will stop at a viewpoint near the Edelweiss restaurant, where you can admire panoramic views of Zermatt and the surrounding valley.
