Travel itinerary
Flight to Cairo
Our adventure in Egypt begins with passport and baggage check-in and a flight to Cairo, the largest city in the country.
Cairo
After landing, the next stop is the hotel for the night. This will be the first night in the country where one of the oldest civilizations in our world was born and flourished – the ancient kingdom of the pharaohs.
Cairo, Giza
Luxor
Right after breakfast, the journey proceeds to the airport for a flight to Luxor. The tour begins with the Karnak temple complex. The central spot is occupied by the temple of Amun-Ra, with two additional structures: one dedicated to the god of war, Montu, and another built in honor of the goddess Mut, Amun’s wife.
In the afternoon, embarkation on a luxury ship will take place, where the next few nights will be spent, and the cruise along the world’s longest river will begin.
In the evening, Luxor will be visited again. One of the two temples open to visitors in the evening is located here. For those interested, a carriage ride through the city and participation in the Karnak “light and show” event.
Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Nile cruise
For those interested, there is an early wake-up call for a sunrise hot air balloon ride (additional fee and mandatory advance reservation).
After breakfast, the journey continues to the Valley of the Kings, the burial site of deceased pharaohs. Among other tombs, the tomb of Tutankhamun will be visited.
Next, the trip proceeds to the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a unique temple built in a terraced style.
After a day full of attractions, the night will be spent on the ship.
Edfu, Nile cruise
After breakfast, the tour continues with a visit to the temple in Edfu. In the afternoon, there is a visit to the unique temple in Kom Ombo, a structure consisting of two identical, connected parts.
This building was constructed on a rock right at a bend in the Nile, in a place where, in ancient times, crocodiles sacred to the Egyptians basked.
Abu Simbel, Nile Cruise
This morning, for those interested (with an additional fee), there is a bus trip south to the Sudanese border. There, on the shores of Lake Nasser, lies Abu Simbel – a complex of two impressive temples consisting of the tomb of Ramses II and the smaller one of his wife Nefertari.
Upon returning to Aswan, the next stop is a place where Nubians will demonstrate the technique of producing flower oils. After this visit, it’s back to the ship for lunch and a short rest.
In the afternoon, there is an optional excursion to a Nubian village. This village preserves the ancient traditions of the Nubian people. The visit includes a stop at a Nubian home for tea and local sweets, a look at a Nile crocodile farm, and a walk down the village’s main street, which is lined with colorful bazaars.
Dinner and overnight stay on the ship.
Philae Island
We disembark from the ship that has carried us along the waters of the Nile for the past few days.
A boat ride will take us to the Temple of Isis. Located on Philae Island, above the First Cataract of the Nile, this sacred site is believed by the ancient Egyptians to be the first piece of land to emerge from the chaos.
We will also see the Aswan High Dam. For millennia, Egypt’s economy depended on the Nile, as the extent of the floods determined how much farmland could be irrigated.
In the afternoon, a domestic flight will take us to Cairo. Upon arrival, we will check into a hotel for the night.
Cairo
The last few hours in Egypt are set aside for exploring Cairo, one of the largest Islamic cities in the world.
